강의소개 및 목표 | - Cultural Holidays From around the world. Students will go through a shortened year where they will experieince the stories and events of the holidays. Each week will focus on a different holiday and the customs that are associated with it. - Some holidays are shared between cultures. Some are unique to one region of the world. - Each lesson will involve a short story and activity based on that holiday. |

1차시 9월2일 | Happy Birthday! and Anniversaries | Student's will begin the class by learning the months of the year and when important dates happen for them and their family. They will also learn the origin of names. | |
2차시 9월9일 | Christmas and Easter | Student's will learn about the two major holidays of Chirstianity. They will learn the major players and why holidays are celebrated. |
3차시 9월16일 | Buddha's Birthday | Student's will be taught about the major parts of the story of Buddha and why people follow hi. they will be shown some of the important parts of the religion and how it interacts with the world. |
4차시 9월23일 | Ramadan and Mawlid an-Nabi | Student's will learn about the Islamic religion in a brief oververiew and the holiday of fasting and why it is important to them. |
5차시 10월7일 | Passover and Hanukkah | Student's will be exposed to the two major religious holidays for the Jewish faith and how they are celebrated and observed. |
6차시 10월14일 | Chinese New Year and Solar New Year | Students will learn about the two calander systems and how they are calculated. They will also learn about their Chinese and Zodiac animals. |
7차시 10월21일 | Valentine's Day and Parent's Day | Student's will learn about the days that we celebrate the love in our life. Love to our parents and love to our sweetheart. |
8차시 10월28일 | Halloween & El Dia de Los Muerte | Student's will wrap up the year with the celebration of the hoildays honoring the end of life. Students will learn how cultures approach death and deal with it. |
개인 기본 준비물 | The major point of this course is not to convert students to a different religion, but to expose them to the wide world of other beliefs and the holiday traditions that they may be able to experience as they travel the world. Student's will be taught to respect and honor other people and their belief. We learn through experience, we fear what we don't know. |
비 고 | Each of these holidays will be treated as a summary of the events that occur. Further material will be provided and if students wish to learn more, they will be directed to other sources of information. This is designed to be a fun celebration of life and what we share in common around the world |
